Ce que j'en ai pensé

Je ne comprends vraiment pas toutes les critiques négatives qu'a reçues ce roman. J'ai véritablement adoré ce deuxième tome de la 5ème vague, je pense même l'avoir préféré au premier. L'histoire débute avec une écriture poétique et imagée qui nous emporte sur quelques pages pour assister à une scène dont les acteurs sont anonymes. La chute de cette brève introduction nous écrase, nous brise, nous laisse interdits et profondément meurtris. Une entrée en matière à couper le souffle. Pour un roman à couper le souffle. Les premières pages franchies, nous retrouvons Cassie et ses compagnons. Un groupe de survivant blessés, atteints physiquement et mentalement par cet enfer qu'est devenu le monde. J'ai admiré l'auteur qui, tour à tour, prend le point de vue d'un personnage et utilise des mots familiers, crus et en même temps des images poétiques. La mer infinie revient toujours, motif récurrent. Certains l'ont trouvé répétitif et dénué de sens, j'ai trouvé au contraire que l'image était juste et belle. J'ai trouvé ce roman très bien écrit et plus intéressant que le précédent car c'est ici que le scénario prend réellement son envol, son originalité. Les personnages prennent de la profondeur. Nous apprenons à connaître certains personnages qui n'avaient pas été vraiment exploités dans le premier tome tels que Poundcake ou Ringer. Et j'ai beaucoup aimé cela. Certains ont trouvé que Cassie et Evan s'étaient effacés par rapport aux autres personnages et trouvaient cela dommage. Je n'ai pas du tout eu cette impression. J'ai trouvé au contraire que ce roman était très équilibré. Effectivement, le personnage de Ringer est particulièrement développé mais je n'ai pas trouvé cela gênant car alors que Ringer m'avait paru froide et presque antipathique dans le premier tome, je me suis beaucoup attachée à elle. Par ailleurs, grâce à elle, nous en apprenons plus sur les extraterrestres et le véritable but des différentes vagues qui n'est pas si simple que ça en réalité. Et Evan et Cassie sont toujours là et restent véritablement mon couple préféré même si (ATTENTION SPOILER), la romance entre Ringer et Razor m'a beaucoup plue car elle était à l'image de leurs personnages, complexe, intense, à la fois brûlante et glacée. Ce roman a donc été pour moi un vrai coup de cœur, haletant, fort et très touchant. Une fois qu'on l'a commencé, on ne peut plus s'arrêter. J'ai hâte de lire le troisième tome et j'espère qu'il sera à la hauteur du deuxième !!

My thought

I really do not understand all the negative reviews this novel received. I truly loved this second volume of the 5th wave, I even think I preffered it to the first one. The story begins with a poetic writing and that takes us on a few pages to witness a scene in which the actors are anonymous. The fall of this brief introduction crushes us, breaks us, lets us astonished. An breathtaking intro. For a breathtaking novel. The first pages read, we find Cassie and her companions. A group of wounded survivors, physically and mentally affected by this hell that has become the world. I admired the author who, in turn, takes the point of view of a character and uses familiar words, raw words and at the same time poetic images. The infinite sea  is everywhere, a recurring pattern. Some have found it repetitive and meaningless, I found instead that the image was fair and beautiful. I found this novel very well written and more interesting than the previous because it is here that the story really takes off, really take its originality. The characters also take more depth. We learn about some characters that were not really exploited in the first volume as Poundcake or Ringer. And I loved it. Some have found that Evan and Cassie had faded compared to other characters and thought it was a shame. I did not get that impression. I found instead that this novel was very balanced. Yes, the character of Ringer is particularly developed but I did not find it annoying when Ringer had seemed cold and almost unfriendly in the first volume, I am much attached to her now. Moreover, thanks to her, we learn more about the aliens and the real purpose of the different waves that is not so simple in reality. And Evan and Cassie are still there and are truly my favorite couple even if (SPOILER WARNING), the romance between Ringer and Razor was also great because it was in the image of their characters, complex, intense, both hot and icy. This novel has been for me a real favorite, panting, loud and very touching. It's a page-turner. I look forward to reading the third book and I hope it will be up to the second !!
