Synopsis

1940 : Alan Turing, mathématicien, cryptologue, est chargé par le gouvernement Britannique de percer le secret de la célèbre machine de cryptage allemande Enigma, réputée inviolable.

Dans la même veine qu'Une merveilleuse histoire de temps ou qu'Un homme d'exception, Imitation Game retrace la vie d'un génie, ici, Alan Turing. Mathématicien et cryptologue brillant, il a pour délicate mission de décrypter les messages des allemands qui utilisent une machine sophistiquée qui change de code quotidiennement. Il est pour cette mission accompagné d'un groupe d'autres mathématiciens et hommes brillants recrutés par le gouvernement comme lui. Cependant, Alan Turing est peut-être un génie dans son domaine mais en tant qu'humain , il est détestable, incapable de nouer une relation. Il aura donc beaucoup de difficultés à travailler en équipe, pire à gagner la confiance de ses collègues qui commenceront par le détester. Génie incompris et complètement en décalage avec les autres, Alan Turing s'acharne à mettre au point une machine qui permettrait de décoder les messages des allemands. Perçu comme un fou par ses supérieurs et par ses collègues, il persévérera jusqu'à atteindre son but. Il sera ainsi le précurseur de l'ordinateur et jouera un rôle clé dans le dénouement de la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Il recrutera lui-même par le biais d'une grille de mots croisés publiée dans un journal d'autres jeunes gens brillants parmi eux une jeune femme qui réussira petit à petit à nouer un lien avec Alan Turing et à le sortir de son isolement. Mais Alan Turing n'est pas seulement un homme en marge de la société en raison de son incapacité à communiquer normalement avec ses semblables, c'est aussi un homosexuel. Or, cela est interdit à cette époque en Angleterre. Ceci causera au final la perte d'un grand homme. Un très beau film porté par des acteurs talentueux : le charismatique Benedict Cumberbatch, la belle Keira Knightley, le fier Matthew Goode.. J'adore ce style de films empreints d'histoire, d'élégance anglaise, très "old school". Imitation Game c'est le portrait d'un homme brillant mais solitaire et hautain. Le tableau historique d'un homme hors du commun. A voir absolument.

 In the same vein as The theory of everything or as A beautiful mind, The Imitation Game traces the life of a genius, here, Alan Turing. Mathematician and brilliant cryptologist, he has the delicate mission of decoding messages from Germans who use a sophisticated machine that change code on a daily basis. He is for this mission accompanied by a group of other mathematicians and brilliant men recruited by the government like him. However, Alan Turing may be a genius in his field but as a human he is detestable, unable to build a relationship. He will therefore have great difficulty working as a team, gaining the confidence of colleagues who begin by detesting him. A misunderstood genius and completely out of step with others, Alan Turing strives to develop a machine that can decode the messages of the Germans. Perceived as a madman by his superiors and by his colleagues, he will persevere. He will thus be the precursor of the computer and will play a key role in the outcome of the Second World War. He himself will recruit through a grid of crossword puzzles published in a newspaper other brilliant young people, among them, a young woman who will gradually succeed in establishing a link with Alan Turing and realising him of his isolation. But Alan Turing is not only a man on the margins of society because of his inability to communicate normally with his fellow men, he is also a homosexual. Or, this is forbidden at this time in England. This is the cause of the loss of a great man. A beautiful film by talented actors: the charismatic Benedict Cumberbatch, the beautiful Keira Knightley, the proud Matthew Goode... I love these kinds of films of history and english elegance, very "old school"... This film is the portrait of a brilliant but lonely and haughty man. The historical picture of an extraordinary man. A must seen.
