Wonder Woman, réalisé par/directed by Patty Jenkins

SYNOPSIS

C'était avant qu'elle ne devienne Wonder Woman, à l'époque où elle était encore Diana, princesse des Amazones et combattante invincible. Un jour, un pilote américain s'écrase sur l'île paradisiaque où elle vit, à l'abri des fracas du monde. Lorsqu'il lui raconte qu'une guerre terrible fait rage à l'autre bout de la planète, Diana quitte son havre de paix, convaincue qu'elle doit enrayer la menace. En s'alliant aux hommes dans un combat destiné à mettre fin à la guerre, Diana découvrira toute l'étendue de ses pouvoirs... et son véritable destin.

CE QUE J'EN AI PENSE

Habituellement, je n'aime pas les films de super-héros que je trouve très manichéens. Le héros est souvent affublé d'un costume ridicule et doté miraculeusement de pouvoirs ou d'une force exceptionnelles. Ce qui m'a attirée ici c'est qu'il s'agit d'une héroïne. Cela tranche avec la dose de testostérone à laquelle on a usuellement droit.

J'ai été étonnée (sans doute que les fans de super-héros me trouveront ignorante) par le début du film qui ancre l'héroïne dans la tribu des Amazones et place l'histoire sous la domination des dieux grecs. Cette incursions dans les mythes et l'Antiquité m'a beaucoup plu. J'ai aussi beaucoup aimé que l'intrigue se continue lors de la Seconde Guerre mondiale, poursuivant ainsi ses références à l'histoire.

Cependant ce film reste très manichéen avec une Gal Gadot superbe incarnant une Wonder Woman pure, parfaite, à la puissance presque divine qui peut vaincre balles et obus avec son bouclier et son épée. Complètement irréaliste. Du côté des méchants, ils sont profondément maléfiques et détestables. Mais j'ai beaucoup aimé la surprise qui intervient presque en fin de film. J'ai également apprécié que l'héroïne ne s'en sorte pas indemne ce qui donne plus de réalisme à l'histoire.

Je tiens enfin à noter que son costume est ridicule bien que ça prête lieu à quelques scènes amusantes. Un film que j'ai donc bien aimé malgré tout mais pas un film qui donne matière à réfléchir : la psychologie des personnages est basique et l'histoire dans l'ensemble est prévisible.

MY THOUGHTS

Usually, I don't like super-heroes films because I think they are too manichean. The hero is often wearing a ridiculous costume and miraculously features  exceptional powers or strenght. What attracted me was the fact that here it's a heroine. It constrats with the dose of testosterone you usually receive. 

I was quite surprised (superheroes' fans may think I'm ignorant) by the beginning of the film that anchors the heroine in the Amazonian tribe and puts the story under the domination of the Greek gods. I was really pleased with this incursion in the myths and Ancient times. I also really liked that the story follows in the Second World Ward, still referring to History. 

Nevertheless, this film remains very manichean with a wonderful (haha) Gal Gadot, embodying a pure, perfect Wonder Woman, powerful enough to fight agains bullets and bombshells with her sword and shield. Completely unrealistic. On the dark side, bad characters are truly maleficent and hateful. But I really liked the surprise that comes at the end of the film. I also appreciated that the heroine doesn't escape unscathed which gives some realism to the story. 

Finally, I want to note her costume is completely ridiculous although it allows some pretty fun scènes. 

It's therefore a film I liked despite all that but it's not a film that gives food for thought: the psychology of the characters is quite basic and the story is for the most very predictable.
