Début juin je suis partie une semaine en vacances en Croatie avec mon chéri. Pour l'anecdote, c'est un fond d'écran Windows qui m'a donné envie d'aller en Croatie. Il s'agissait d'une photographie des lacs de Plitvice et c'était tellement somptueux que je me suis dit qu'il fallait absolument que j'y aille. C'est donc ce que j'ai fait.
At the beginning of June I went on holiday to Croatia for a week with my boyfriend. For the record, it was a Windows wallpaper that made me want to go to Croatia. It was a photograph of the Plitvice lakes and it was so sumptuous that I thought I absolutely had to go. So that's what I did.
Dubrovnik
Nous sommes arrivés à l'aéroport de Dubrovnik un samedi soir et avons récupéré la voiture que nous avions louée (www.bsp-auto.com). Le soleil était couché mais le peu que nous pouvions voir de la côte apparaissait déjà sublime. Notre appartement était charmant et cozy avec un petit balcon très agréable pour prendre le petit-déjeuner (Apartment Rivendell, Dubrovnik – Updated 2023 Prices (booking.com)). Le dimanche matin, nous nous sommes levés tôt et avons marché une demi-heure jusqu'au centre-ville. Notre objectif : les murailles de Dubrovnik. Je vous recommande de prendre au préalable le Dubrovnik Pass qui coûte le même prix que pour visiter les murailles seules mais qui permet de visiter d'autres sites de la ville en plus. La vue des murailles est absolument superbe. Il faisait un temps magnifique et nous avions les toits de tuile, la mer et ses îles qui s'offraient à nos yeux. Après avoir fait le tour de la vieille ville du haut de ses remparts, nous sommes descendus dans ses ruelles. Il faisait extrêmement chaud. Nous avons été voir le cloître du monastère franciscain, avons visité l'église Saint-Blaise et l'église Saint-Ignatius. Nous nous sommes posés sur une terrasse à flanc de rocher avec vue sur la mer pour boire un verre. Un moment paradisiaque. Le midi, nous avons mangé dans un restaurant oubliable, le Kopun, cher et à la nourriture médiocre. L'après-midi, nous sommes allés visiter le musée de la Marine qui vaut le coup d'oeil avec des panneaux très intéressants sur l'histoire de Dubrovnik et de sa flotte maritime. Nous sommes ensuite partis en quête d'une plage pour nous poser. La plage de Dance aux abords rocheux et bétonnés en plein soleil ne nous a pas plue. Nous étions plutôt en quête d'ombre en cet après-midi étouffante. Nous avons donc marché vers notre appartement et avons finalement trouvé la plage de Bellevue. Une petite crique dont les abords ne sont pas très engageants mais qui était à l'ombre et où l'eau était cristalline. Le soir, nous avons dîné tranquillement à l'appartement.
We arrived at Dubrovnik airport on a Saturday evening and collected the car we'd hired (www.bsp-auto.com). The sun had set but what little we could see of the coast was already sublime. Our flat was charming and cosy with a small balcony which was very pleasant for breakfast (Apartment Rivendell, Dubrovnik - Updated 2023 Prices (booking.com)). On Sunday morning, we got up early and walked for half an hour to the city centre. Our goal: the city walls of Dubrovnik. I recommend you take the Dubrovnik Pass beforehand, which costs the same as visiting the walls alone but allows you to visit other sites in the city as well. The view from the walls is absolutely superb. The weather was magnificent and we could see the tiled roofs, the sea and the islands. After touring the old town from the top of the ramparts, we headed down into the narrow streets. It was extremely hot. We visited the cloister of the Franciscan monastery, the church of Saint Blaise and the church of Saint Ignatius. We had a drink on a terrace on the cliff overlooking the sea. A heavenly moment. For lunch, we ate at a forgettable restaurant, Kopun, which was expensive and had mediocre food. In the afternoon, we went to visit the Marine Museum, which is well worth a visit with its very interesting panels on the history of Dubrovnik and its maritime fleet. We then set off in search of a beach to rest on. We didn't like Dance's beach, with its rocky, concrete outskirts in full sun. We were looking for shade on this sweltering afternoon. So we walked back to our flat and finally found Bellevue beach. It's a small cove with not very inviting surroundings, but it was in the shade and the water was crystal clear. In the evening, we had a quiet dinner at the flat.

Split
Le lendemain matin, nous avons pris la route vers Split. Il pleuvait des cordes quand nous sommes arrivés. Nous sommes restés un moment dans notre Airbnb en attendant que le temps s'éclaircisse. Quand nous avons enfin pu sortir, nous sommes allés déjeuner à Sexy Cow, un fast food qui vend d'excellents wraps. Nous nous sommes ensuite dirigés vers la vieille ville. Autant la banlieue de Split est moche, autant son centre est magnifique. J'ai été fascinée par cette ville construite au sein d'un palais de l'Antiquité. Cela débordait de touristes et pourtant la magie des lieux était là. Chargée d'histoire, la ville de Split offre une vue saisissante sur l'architecture de l'époque. Nous avons déambulé un long moment dans les ruelles. Nous avons dégusté une glace achetée après avoir fait la longue queue devant la Gelateria Emiliana. Leurs glaces valent vraiment le détour. Le soir, nous avons mangé dans un restaurant à l'ambiance branchée appelé Mazzgoon, cher mais pas mauvais.
The next morning, we set off for Split. It was pouring with rain when we arrived. We stayed in our Airbnb for a while, waiting for the weather to clear. When we were finally able to get out, we went to lunch at Sexy Cow, a fast food restaurant that sells excellent wraps. We then headed for the old town. As ugly as the suburbs of Split are, the centre is magnificent. I was fascinated by this city built within an ancient palace. It was overflowing with tourists and yet the magic of the place was there. Steeped in history, Split offers a striking view of the architecture of the time. We spent a long time wandering through the narrow streets. We enjoyed an ice cream we'd bought after waiting in a long queue outside Gelateria Emiliana. Their ice creams are well worth the try. In the evening, we ate at a trendy restaurant called Mazzgoon, which was expensive but not bad.
Le mardi matin, j'avais prévu que nous allions visiter l'île de Hvar. Mais à notre réveil, gros orage dehors. Nous sommes restés toute la matinée à l'abri attendant que la pluie cesse. Nous sommes allés manger des pizzas à la pizzeria Galija, bonne mais sans plus. C'est là que j'ai goûté un soda local appelé "Pipi", de couleur jaune évidemment car s'appeler pipi n'était pas suffisant... Cela a un peu le goût de Fanta. Nous nous sommes à nouveau baladé dans Split puis avons décidé d'aller en quête d'une plage. Nous avons longtemps marché jusqu'à arriver à la plage de Kasjuni. Et je peux vous assurer qu'elle vaut la longue marche pour y arriver car elle est tout simplement sublime. Nous nous sommes baignés dans les eaux claires de la mer Adriatique et avons bu un verre en regardant le coucher du soleil. Un coin de paradis ! Le soir tombant, nous sommes allés dînés dans Split à l'Uje Oil Bar où j'ai goûté au fameux risotto à l'encre de seiche. Pas mauvais du tout même si j'avais l'impression qu'il manquait un petit quelque chose pour relever le tout. Le restaurant est quant à lui charmant avec ses petites tables sur lesquelles sont posées un petit olivier.
On Tuesday morning, I had planned for us to visit the island of Hvar. But when we woke up, there was a big storm outside. We stayed in the shelter all morning waiting for the rain to stop. We went for pizza at the Galija pizzeria, which was good but nothing more than that. It was there that I tasted a local soda called "Pipi". It tastes a bit like Fanta. We wandered around Split again and then decided to go in search of a beach. We walked for a long time until we arrived at Kasjuni beach. And I can assure you that it's worth the long walk to get there because it's simply sublime. We bathed in the clear waters of the Adriatic Sea and had a drink while watching the sunset. A corner of paradise! As evening fell, we had dinner in Split at the Uje Oil Bar where I tried the famous squid ink risotto. It wasn't bad at all, although I did feel that it lacked a little something to spice it up. As for the restaurant, it's charming with its little tables on which a small olive tree stands.
De Split à Zadar / From Split to Zadar
Mercredi, nous avons pris la voiture de Split pour aller à Zadar. Nous avons fait une halte à Trogir sur le trajet. Charmante petite ville construite sur une île séparée du continent par un petit pont. Nous avons dégusté une excellente salade de poulpe dans un restaurant appelé Calebotta. Nous avons ensuite visité la cathédrale de Trogir et sommes montés tout en haut de sa tour. L'escalier est vertigineux mais la vue là-haut est superbe sur la ville et ses alentours. A faire.
On Wednesday, we took the car from Split to Zadar. We stopped off in Trogir on the way. A charming little town built on an island separated from the mainland by a small bridge. We enjoyed an excellent octopus salad in a restaurant called Calebotta. We then visited Trogir Cathedral and climbed to the top of its tower. The staircase is vertiginous but the view from up there is superb over the city and its surroundings. A must-do.
Nous avons ensuite repris la route vers Zadar. J'ai été charmée par cette ville aux rues larges, aux beaux bâtiments clairs. Il y régnait une atmosphère très détendue et agréable. Nous sommes allés voir le fameux orgue maritime. Nous avons dîné dans un excellent restaurant au décor élégant que je vous recommande : Pet Bunara.
We then headed back to Zadar. I was charmed by this town with its wide streets and beautiful, light-coloured buildings. It had a very relaxed and pleasant atmosphere. We went to see the famous maritime organ. Finally, we had dinner at Pet Bunara, an excellent restaurant with an elegant decor that I would recommend.
Les lacs de Plitvice / Plitvice Lakes
Le jeudi, nous nous sommes levés de bonne heure pour aller aux lacs de Plitvice. Le point d'orgue de ce voyage. J'avais de hautes attentes pour ce parc et je n'ai pas été déçue. Je pense que l'un des plus beaux endroits que j'ai visités de toute ma vie. Les lacs sont véritablement magiques avec leurs eaux turquoises, leurs cascades, leur végétation luxuriante. C'est un lieu merveilleux et enchanteur. Nous avons passé la journée à arpenter le parc. Je vous recommande le parcours H, le plus long dont nous avons fait une grande partie (nous avons dû prendre le bateau à un moment car une partie du sentier était fermée en raison d'inondations). Marcher sur des rondins affleurant l'eau, voir ces chutes d'eau. C'est vraiment incroyable. Une journée fabuleuse ! Nous avons conclu cette journée par un excellent burger (sans doute l'un des meilleurs que j'ai jamais mangé) à Old Shatterhand.
On Thursday, we got up early to go to the Plitvice Lakes. The highlight of the trip. I had high expectations for this park and I was not disappointed. I think it's one of the most beautiful places I've visited in my entire life. The lakes are truly magical, with their turquoise waters, waterfalls and lush vegetation. It's a wonderful, enchanting place. We spent the day walking around the park. I'd recommend the H trail, the longest part of which we did (we had to take the boat at one point because part of the trail was closed due to flooding). Walking on logs flush with the water, seeing these waterfalls... It's really incredible. A fabulous day! We ended the day with an excellent burger (probably one of the best I've ever had) at Old Shatterhand.
Sibenik et retour à Dubrovnik / Sibenik and back to Dubrovnik
Le vendredi, nous avons repris la route pour retourner à Dubrovnik. Nous avons fait une halte à Sibenik, une très jolie ville où nous avons déjeuné, visité la cathédrale et mangé une glace avant de reprendre la route.
On Friday, we hit the road again to head back to Dubrovnik. We made a stopover in Sibenik, a very pretty town where we had lunch, visited the cathedral and had an ice cream before getting back on the road.
Nous avons passé notre dernière nuit dans un hameau un peu après Dubrovnik proche de l'aéroport. La vue depuis la chambre était magnifique (Villa Sunset).
We spent our last night in a hamlet just outside Dubrovnik, close to the airport. The view from the room was magnificent (Villa Sunset).
Le samedi matin, nous sommes allés nous poser sur la plage de Cavtat en attendant notre avion. Une belle façon de clore ce séjour magnifique.
On Saturday morning, we went to Cavtat beach to wait for our plane. A wonderful way to end this magnificent holiday.
