SYNOPSIS

Le propriétaire du Grand Budapest Hotel raconte à un écrivain de passage comment il en est arrivé à posséder cet autrefois prestigieux et luxueux établissement. Débute alors le récit d'une aventure aux ingrédients digne d'un roman policier : meurtre, complot, vol de tableau, prisonnier en fuite... 

CE QUE J'EN AI PENSE

Ce film est une petite pépite. L'atmosphère est superbe notamment avec ce décor d'hôtel de luxe suranné qui n'est pas sans évoquer une version plus rose de l'Overlook. Par ailleurs, pour être passée il y a peu à Karlovy Vary, la façade de l'hôtel m'a fait penser aux magnifiques bâtisses de cette ville tchèque.

The Grand Budapest Hotel bénéficie également d'un casting de première classe : Jude Law, Saoirse Ronan, Tilda Swinton et surtout Ralph Fiennes qui nous livre une performance géniale. Le scénario n'est pas le plus original mais c'est la façon de le raconter qui est fabuleuse. Wes Anderson nous embarque dans un film fantaisiste aux allures théâtrales, à la fois comique et dramatique. C'est drôle, c'est touchant, c'est beau. On y ressent beaucoup de nostalgie pour un faste passé. En effet, The Grand Budapest Hotel, c'est aussi le récit d'une époque révolue. 

Finalement, ce film nous fait passer un merveilleux moment de divertissement avec sa construction originale, d'excellents acteurs et un décor fantastique.

The owner of the Grand Budapest Hotel tells a visiting writer how he came to own this once prestigious and luxurious establishment. This is the beginning of an adventure with all the ingredients of a detective story: murder, conspiracy, theft of a painting, escaped prisoner...

MY THOUGHTS

This film is a little piece of art. The atmosphere is superb, particularly the old-fashioned luxury hotel décor, which is reminiscent of a pinker version of the Overlook. What's more, having recently been in Karlovy Vary, the hotel's façade reminded me of the magnificent buildings in this Czech town.

The Grand Budapest Hotel also boasts a first-class cast: Jude Law, Saoirse Ronan, Tilda Swinton and above all Ralph Fiennes, who delivers a brilliant performance. The script isn't the most original, but it's the way it's told that's fabulous. Wes Anderson takes us on a whimsical, theatrical film that is both comic and dramatic. It's funny, it's touching, it's beautiful. And it's full of nostalgia for a bygone era. Indeed, The Grand Budapest Hotel is also the story of a lost time.

All in all, this film is a marvellous piece of entertainment, with its original construction, excellent actors and fantastic setting.
