Frankenstein - Guillermo del Toro

SYNOPSIS

Le réalisateur oscarisé Guillermo del Toro adapte le roman classique de Mary Shelley sur Victor Frankenstein, un scientifique brillant mais égocentrique qui donne vie à une créature lors d'une expérience monstrueuse, menant finalement à la perte du créateur comme de sa tragique création.

CE QUE J'EN AI PENSE

Pour commencer, ce film est d'une longueur assommante. Il s'étire et s'étire à l'infini et l'on n'attend plus qu'une chose, que l'on mette fin à nos souffrances. Ensuite, les décors ne sont qu'effets spéciaux qui sont d'une artificialité désastreuse. Le rendu visuel est véritablement catastrophique. Rien n'est beau. Les personnages manquent de densité, de relief et nous laissent de fait complètement indifférents. N'ayant jamais lu l'œuvre originale de Mary Shelley, je ne peux juger de la qualité de l'adaptation. Néanmoins, ce que je peux dire, c'est que ce film ne donne pas du tout envie de lire le roman. Je ne m'attendais à rien de grandiose mais je ne m'attendais pas à un tel fiasco. C'est laid et vide. Une perte de temps.

MY THOUGHTS

To begin with, this film is tediously long. It drags on and on, and all you want is for someone to bring an end to your misery. Secondly, the sets are nothing but special effects that are disastrously artificial. The visual rendering is truly catastrophic. Nothing is beautiful. The characters lack depth and dimension, leaving us completely indifferent. Having never read Mary Shelley's original work, I cannot judge the quality of the adaptation. However, what I can say is that this film does not make you want to read the novel at all. I wasn't expecting anything spectacular, but I wasn't expecting such a fiasco. It's ugly and empty. A waste of time.
