Synopsis

Rivalités dans la troupe du New York City Ballet. Nina est prête à tout pour obtenir le rôle principal du Lac des cygnes que dirige l’ambigu Thomas. Mais elle se trouve bientôt confrontée à la belle et sensuelle nouvelle recrue, Lily... 

 

Ce que j'en ai pensé

 Angoissant et profondément dérangeant. Ce film m'a laissée l'estomac noué. On suit le personnage de Nina, danseuse au New York City Ballet qui cherche à décrocher le rôle principal du Lac des Cygnes. La concurrence est rude. Mais la véritable ennemie de Nina n'est autre qu'elle-même. La pression que se met la jeune danseuse, déjà fragile psychologiquement, menace de la rendre folle. Nina a des hallucinations et le spectateur lui-même a beaucoup de mal à démêler le vrai du faux dans l'esprit malade de la jeune femme. Nous assistons d'abord, avec inquiétude, puis anxiété à la descente aux enfers de Nina dans une schizophrénie destructrice. Nina cherche désespérément à se trouver entre le cygne blanc, pur et chaste, et le cygne noir, cruel et érotique. Le directeur de la compagnie, un homme vil, froid, insensible ne l'aide pas. Pire, il la perd. Vincent Cassel est particulièrement effrayant dans ce rôle de mâle dominant et pervers. Natalie Portman, quant à elle, incarne à la perfection le personnage de Nina, mélange de fragilité enfantine et de violence désordonnée, âme torturée et esprit dérangé dans un corps gracieux au visage délicat. Une performance superbe. Darren Aronofsky signe un film noir, dérangé et dérangeant, halluciné et hallucinant, horrible et horrifiant. Ce film m'a profondément perturbée et je le déconseille aux personnes sensibles car il s'agit véritablement d'un film d'horreur. Somptueux sans doute mais noir et violent.

My thought

Distressing and deeply disturbing. This film left my stomach knotted. It follows the character of Nina, a New York City Ballet dancer who seeks to win the lead role of Swan Lake. The competition is tough. But the real enemy of Nina is none other than herself. The pressure the young dancer, already fragile psychologically, puts on herself threatens to make her insane. Nina has hallucinations and the viewer himself has difficulties to disentangle fact from fiction in the sick mind of the young woman. We are witnessing first with concern and then with anxiety the descent into hell of Nina in a destructive schizophrenia. Nina desperately tries to find herself between the white swan, pure and chaste, and the black swan, cruel and erotic. The director of the company, a vile, cold, insensitive man does not help. Worse, he loses her. Vincent Cassel is particularly frightening in the role of this dominant and perverse male. Natalie Portman, meanwhile, perfectly embodies the character of Nina, a mixture of childlike fragility and disorderly violence, a tortured soul and a deranged mind in a graceful body with a delicate face. A superb performance. Darren Aronofsky signs a film noir, disturbed and disturbing, horrible and horrifying. This film was deeply disturbing and I do not recommend it to sensitive people because it is truly a horror movie. Sumptuous but very dark and violent.
