SYNOPSIS

New York, 1961. CE QUE J'EN AI PENSE

J'ai un peu honte d'avouer que je ne connaissais que peu de choses sur Bob Dylan. J'aurais été incapable de citer une de ses chansons. Pourtant, j'en ai déjà entendu mais j'aurais bien été incapable de dire qui en était le chanteur. Mais je crois que je suis très heureuse que ce film soit ma porte d'entrée vers cet homme intriguant. Un parfait inconnu nous recrée l'atmosphère du New York des années 60. Un vent de liberté et de révolution sociale souffle sur les Etats-Unis. C'est dans cette ambiance qu'évolue Bob Dylan. En quelques années, il passe du statut d'inconnu à celui de légende. Ce sont ces années qui nous sont présentées. La performance de Timothée Chalamet est incroyable. Sa performance vocale notamment car oui, Timothée Chalamet interprète lui-même chacune des chansons. Et il le fait extrêmement bien avec une voix et un accent travaillés pour coller au plus proche du timbre de Bob Dylan. Il joue de la guitare et de l'harmonica également. C'est phénoménal. Le film prend quelques libertés avec les faits mais cela ne le rend que meilleur car il crée une histoire à part entière. J'ai adoré voir l'ascension fulgurante de ce jeune homme fluet à l'air taciturne. Sous ses cheveux ébouriffés, se cache un talent fou, un sens de la musique et une sensibilité que l'on retrouve dans son écriture. J'ai toujours trouvé qu'entrevoir des bribes de vie des génies, de tenter de comprendre ce qui fait de ces êtres des génies est tout à fait fascinant. C'est pourquoi j'aime tant les biopics et celui-ci ne fait pas exception. Un excellent film.

MY THOUGHTS

I'm a bit ashamed to admit that I knew very little about Bob Dylan. I wouldn't have been able to name one of his songs. I've heard some of them, but I wouldn't have been able to say who sang them. But I'm very happy that this film was my gateway to this intriguing man. A Complete Unknown recreates the atmosphere of New York in the 60s. A wind of freedom and social revolution was blowing across the United States. It was in this atmosphere that Bob Dylan evolved. In just a few years, he went from unknown to legend. These are the years we are introduced to. Timothée Chalamet's performance is incredible. His vocal performance in particular, because yes, Timothée Chalamet interprets each of the songs himself. And he does it extremely well, with a voice and accent crafted to match Bob Dylan's tone as closely as possible. He also plays guitar and harmonica. It's phenomenal. The film takes a few liberties with the facts but that only makes it better because it creates a story of its own. I loved watching the meteoric rise of this slender, taciturn-looking young man. Beneath his dishevelled hair lies a mad talent, a sense of music and a sensitivity that is reflected in his writing. I've always found it fascinating to catch glimpses of the lives of geniuses, to try to understand what makes them geniuses. That's why I love biopics so much and this one is no exception. An excellent film.
